The University of Akureyri is looking for a specialist in occupational therapy, preferably within the field of physical or cognitive rehabilitation. Applicants must be a registered occupational therapist and hold a doctoral degree awarded by a recognized university within WOFOT. The position is available from August 1st, 2018.
The term of office is five years and after that the candidate can request a permanent position, according to Regulations no. 258/2016 on the Work of the Evaluation Committee and Hiring of Faculty at the University of Akureyri. Should the successful candidate be considered qualified as associate professor or full professor by the Evaluation Committee, a promotion can be considered on employment.
The main responsibilities are teaching and conducting research in the field of occupational therapy and health sciences and participation in management. The immediate supervisor is the Head of the Faculty of Occupational Therapy. The job location is in Akureyri, Iceland.
The Faculty of Occupational Therapy has nine faculty members and around 90 students. The faculty offers a new undergraduate program of 180 ECTS in occupational therapy science with a complete new curriculum which started in the autumn 2017. The faculty also offers the option of studying an additional one year at a master´s level which emphasizes clinical studies for OT licence. The entire OT program is taught in a form of blended learning in which the teaching and learning resources are distributed across a range of media types and communication styles. The School of Health Sciences also offers research-based graduate studies.
The Faculty of Occupational Therapy is part of the School of Health Sciences together with Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Graduate studies. Faculty members are around 30 and a total number of students around 400.

Salaries are according to the collective agreement between the Union of University Teachers in Akureyri (FHA) and the Minister of Finance.
