Associate Professorships in Laws at the Department of Law

The Department of Law is pleased to announce the opening of a number of Associate Professorships in laws from 1 March 2018 or soon hereafter within the following legal areas:

  • Tax Law
  • Civil Procedure
  • Human Rights as well as Data Protection Regulation (both disciplines)
  • International Criminal Law as well as Sociology of Law (both disciplines)


The positions are located at the Department of Law in Odense, however the Associate Professorship in Tax law is located at the Department of Law in Kolding.

The assessment will be based on the candidates research qualifications as well as dissemination and teaching experience. The candidates must be able to teach in Danish and/or in English. Further guidelines on the evaluating qualification criteria are available here.

At the Department of Law we are currently 50 employees and a number of part-time lecturers. Our primary tasks are research, teaching, and research dissemination of a very high standard and societal relevance within a number of legal areas.

The Department of Law provides the traditional legal education programmes BSc in Laws/Master of Laws as well as BSc in Business Administration and Laws/MSc in Business Administration and Laws. Furthermore, the department is responsible for teaching in legal subjects at the University of Southern Denmark, such as MSc in Business Economics and Auditing and at MSc in International Security and Laws.

Application, salary, etc.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

An application must include:

  • Detailed CV
  • Certificates/Diplomas (Master and PhD degree)
  • Teaching portfolio (please see below)
  • Complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position
  • Up to 5 of the most relevant publications. Please upload a pdf for each publication. If the publication has been co-authored, co-author statements must be a part of this pdf and must include information like in this example. The statement is just for your inspiration.
  • Research and publication plan for the next (in example) 3 years
  • References (if possible)

All non-Danish documents must be translated into English.

Applicants applying for an associate professorship are requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation for teaching experience as well as supervision qualifications. Formal application instructions and a guide for the teaching portfolio may be found here.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the committee will assess whether you are qualified to be an Associate Professor.

The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Deparment who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted. Additionally, the appointments committee determines which candidate will be offered the position.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
