Full Professorships in Law of Property at the Department of Law

A number of full professorships within the field of Law of Property will be available at the Department of Law as of 1 January 2019 or immediately thereafter by further agreement. The place of employment is Odense.

The department works to ensure high quality and social relevance in terms of research, education and knowledge exchange. More information about the department and its strategy and activities can be found on the department's website.

The individuals appointed to the professorships are expected to play a central and active role in the department's work with its strategic objectives and to contribute to the department's tasks by means of the following:
 

• Development and consolidation of, as well as focus on, the department's research and research activities in the field of Law of Property through, inter alia national and international publications, providing guidance to junior researchers, participation in research collaborations and applications for external funding.

• Participation in and development of various knowledge-exchange activities in order to draw attention to the research results of and knowledge gained from the activities in question and bring this into play vis-à-vis the outside world.

• Establishment of national and international networks and relations with external stakeholders.

• Teaching and supervision in key areas of Law of Property, including Law of Contract, Law of Obligation, Law of Credit Protection and Private Law Enforcement, as well as the development of subjects and programmes from an academic and pedagogical perspective.

• Carrying out various administrative and management tasks related to research and teaching.

Applicants must be able to document significant research and teaching experience within the field of Law of Property.
Applicants must be able to teach in Danish and/or English.

The persons appointed are expected to show commitment and visibility vis-à-vis the department and to contribute positively to the department's working environment, daily life and ongoing operations and development.

Applicants will initially be evaluated by an assessment committee that will consider the applicants' qualifications and experience in research, teaching and knowledge exchange. Further accreditation criteria which must be met as a minimum for a positive assessment can be found here. Selected applicants will then be called for an interview.

Shortlisting and testing may be used in the assessment process.

Application, salary, etc.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

An application must include:

  • Detailed CV.
  • Certificates/Diplomas (Master and PhD degree).
  • Teaching portfolio (please see below).
  • Complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position.
  • Up to 10 of the most relevant publications. Please upload a pdf for each publication.
    • If the publication has been co-authored, co-author statements must be a part of this pdf and must include information like in this example. The example is just for your inspiration.
  • Documented experience with research leadership.
  • Research and publication plan for the next 5 years.
  • References if possible.

All non-Danish documents must be translated into English.

Applicants applying for a professorship are requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation for teaching experience as well as supervision qualifications. Formal application instructions and a guide for the teaching portfolio may be found here

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the committee will assess whether the applicant is qualified to be a Professor.

The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Deparment who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted. Additionally, the appointments committee determines which candidate will be offered the position.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
