Role and Responsibilities:
A position as Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Political Science is open at the Faculty of History and Social Sciences. We are looking for a new member of faculty to do research, teach and develop courses in political science. As several of the degree programmes at the Faculty of History and Social Sciences are interdisciplinary in nature, the successful applicant should also expect to be teaching students enrolled in degree programmes other than political science at the faculty.
Qualifications and Competences:
To be employed as associate professor or assistant professor, applicants must have a PhD degree or equivalent research competence.
Excellent language skills are required in Scandinavian languages and English. Insight into Faroese politics and Faroese society or demonstrating an interest in learning about these will be considered an advantage. Any successful applicant who is not a native speaker of Faroese is expected within 3 to 4 years to acquire sufficient knowledge of Faroese to at least understand the language. It is important that applicants are experienced researchers with good teaching skills and are team players who are eager to contribute to the overall progress and success of our faculty. There are currently approximately 30 people working at the faculty with diverse skills and in various disciplines in a thriving and inspiring academic environment with discussions and collaboration across disciplines. We expect any successful applicant to appreciate the value of interdisciplinary cooperation at the faculty.
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
The available position will be filled in accordance with the Regulations Governing Positions at the University of The Faroe Islands, which are available here. The salary, as well as terms and conditions of employment, are governed by the collective agreement between the Faroese Government and AKF (academics’ union).

Any teaching experience must be documented with an overview of positions held, along with recommendations and evaluations, if available. Applications must be written in English.
