PhD position in the European
Training Network on Informal Care
(deadline February 1, 2020)

Mostly due to increased longevity and medical advances, the needs of older/ill individuals for long-term care rise rapidly while the availability of informal caregivers decreases. Informal caregivers are those who provide unpaid care to a relative or friend with a chronic illness, disability or other long-lasting health or care need. This “Care Gap” will create huge problems for the sustainability of European health care systems that rely heavily on the provision of informal care.
The aim of ENTWINE’s team is to investigate broad spectrum of challenges in informal caregiving and issues concerning the development and use of innovative psychology-based and technology-based interventions that support willingness and opportunity to provide informal care. The focus is on overcoming barriers following a user-centered, stakeholder-driven implementation and agile science approach to promote the adoption and implementation of innovative solutions to support informal caregivers. ENTWINE represents a stepping-stone towards sustainable informal care throughout Europe.
ESR12: Development and implementation of Smart Solutions
Since ESR12 is going make use of the developments in several other ESR projects (See ESR’s: 6, 8, 9 and 11), she/he has ideally some understanding of topics in these projects and she/he must have excellent skills of connecting people and building relationships. The ESR will develop skills through a combination of courses, seminars and research activities (i.e. including data collection, analyses and syntheses) in order to develop a methodology for successful implementations of eHealth technologies. The ESR will build upon a systematic review to understand what kinds of implementation models and systems have been used to implement technology to support Informal care. The current position is available due to a change in the personal situation of the current person. The ESR will have 36 months to complete the PhD project, considering a start as soon as possible. A paper or publication related to implementation of eHealth is a recommendation.
