As a lecturer in Neuroscience at the Donders Centre for Neuroscience (DCN), part of the Faculty of Science at Radboud University, you will be expected to teach courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at DCN. Together with your colleagues, you will contribute to the development, teaching and coordination of neuroscience and/or neurotechnology courses in the Bachelor’s programme in Human Neuroscience and the Master’s programme in Medical Biology, the specialisation in Neurobiology, or the Physics specialisation in Neurophysics. A large part of your responsibility will be the development and organisation of courses in which specific neuroscience research topics are linked to academic and practical skills. As a lecturer at DCN and the Faculty of Science, you will provide excellent multidisciplinary teaching. In addition, you will also be encouraged to spend 20% of your time on educational innovation projects, deepen your knowledge of ongoing research at DCN, or engage in academic management or organisational tasks.

Profile

•  You should hold a PhD in a relevant field such as Neuroscience, Biology, Physics or Psychology.
• You preferably have teaching experience (you should have obtained a university teaching qualification or be willing to obtain one).
• You enjoy working with students.
• You are interested in the research being conducted at DCN.
• You are able or willing to learn to teach in the Dutch language.
• You have excellent communication and organisational skills, and are a team player.

We are

At the Donders Centre for Neuroscience (DCN) we aim to understand and teach about the complex neural systems underlying perceptual, motor and cognitive brain functions. We study these systems using experimental,  computational and mathematical approaches. DCN currently consists of two sections: Neurobiology and Neurophysics. This position will be part of one of the two sections, depending on your background. You will take a leading role in the organisation and implementation of the new Bachelor’s programme in Human Neuroscience (taught in Dutch) and the new Master’s programme in Neurotechnology. Both are scheduled to start in September 2026. The Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Neuroscience at Radboud University are closely linked to ongoing research and cover the complete field of neuroscience, from small-scale processes (subcellular processes, single-cell analysis) to large-scale processes (cognition, behaviour) and from experimental to big data analysis, computational modelling and advanced machine learning.

The Donders Centre for Neuroscience (DCN) is part of the world-renowned Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour (DI), which is a world-class interfaculty research centre that hosts more than 800 researchers devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of the human mind. Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science (FNWI), part of Radboud University, engages in groundbreaking research and excellent education. In doing so, we push the boundaries of scientific knowledge and pass that knowledge on to the next generation.

We offer

• We will give you a temporary employment contract of 18 months with the prospect of an indefinite contract. 
• Your salary within salary scale 11 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.
• You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus.
