Job description

You will conduct academic research in the field of Sport Policy and Sport Management and in particular on ethical challenges in sport, such as fraud in sport, good governance, diversity and integrity management. Research may involve both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques. You will participate in international academic conferences and publish scientific articles in high-quality academic journals.
You will collaborate with the other researchers in the Sport Management team and researchers outside the collaborating team. You will therefore join the Sport Management research group at the Department of Movement and Sports Sciences of UGent.
This research group's mission is to excel in research, education and service amplifying professionalism and integrity of sports organizations.

Job profile

You hold a master's degree in one of the following fields: Master in Physical Education and Exercise Science, Master in Psychology, Master of Business Economics, Commercial Science or Business Engineering, degree in an area within the social and behavioral sciences, within the field of law (preferably labor law) or in another discipline relevant to the subject of the research. Diploma requirements must be met by date of appointment.

Additional requirements:

  • You can work independently and as part of a team.
  • You have an interest in the field of (nonprofit) management.
  • You obtained good study results.
  • You have a keen interest in scientific and project-based research.
  • You have sufficient knowledge of social science methodologies.
  • Scientific writing skills in English are essential.
  • Specific knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods is recommended.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
