What you will do

As an Equipment Maintenance Engineer, you'll start your journey in our esteemed FAB Engineering team by getting hands-on with the high-tech process equipment in our cleanroom. No need to be an expert from day one – we'll give you the time to thoroughly understand these cutting-edge tools. Our team takes pride in maintaining and fine-tuning some of the most advanced equipment globally, the machines that imec uses to develop the next generation of chips. You'll even get a chance to work with first versions and prototypes, which is pretty exciting!

As you grow in your role, you'll get more freedom to plan and execute your tasks, take initiatives, building your troubleshooting skills through increasingly challenging repairs and optimizations. We work closely with equipment manufacturers and other process engineers, so you'll be collaborating with a diverse group of experts.

You’ll be part of our FAB Engineering team that consists of over 100 talented individuals with whom you will form the beating heart of our research institute. Specializing in nano-electronics, your work will contribute to technological solutions in various fields like healthcare and energy.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

  • You have a Master's degree in Industrial Science, specializing in Electromechanics or Mechanics, or you have gained equivalent technical experience along the way. If you are just starting, that's okay! We are also open to motivated beginners eager to kickstart their career.
  • You are genuinely passionate about technology and equipment, and you are not afraid to get your hands dirty. Your technical knowledge of pneumatics, pumps, motors, electronics, and (electro)mechanics is a valuable asset.
  • As a valued member of our team, we highly appreciate your collaborative spirit, while also trusting your ability to proactively plan and organize your work on your own.
  • You will be working in shifts (early-late- 1 weekend out of 3)
  • You feel right at home in our international environment where English is the primary language.

Remember, we are excited about your potential and ambition to grow. So, if you are not sure you meet all the criteria, don't let that stop you. We'll be there to support your development with our training programs.
