Associate Professor

Faculty of Psychology in Kraków 
Employment group: teaching-research 
Teaching hours: 240 

Duties:

  • conducting classes (lectures, workshops, Master's seminars) in health psychology / clinical psychology, in full-time and part-time study programs according to the schedule (conducting classes on specific weekdays and selected weekends), including participation in doctoral education
  • developing original class curricula and introducing qualitative and substantive changes to existing syllabi and study programs
  • performing tasks related to teaching, including creating syllabi, issuing grades, and archiving student works, participating in the graduation process and conducting exams, as well as holding consultations with students and doctoral candidates
  • contributing to the improvement of teaching quality by acting as a mentor for teaching staff 
  • promoting research results among students and doctoral candidates, including referring to research findings during teaching activities
  • supporting the development of students and doctoral candidates, in particular through substantive supervision of student and doctoral organizations
  • conducting academic research and actively seeking funding for academic research
  • initiating application-oriented projects, including implementation projects
  • publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals with a fixed IF and monographs, on a two-year basis as determined by the current resolution of the Institute's Scientific Board
  • enhancing research skills and tools
  • contributing to the integration of the student community and supporting activities aimed at maintaining good relationships with alumni
  • involvement in organizational work at the Faculty and at the University (including participation in collegial bodies, advisory boards, committees, cooperation with academic staff responsible for organizing teaching or research activities, and readiness to fulfill assigned functions and administrative tasks)
  • contributing to the integration of the academic community by supporting student research groups and student, doctoral, and alumni organizations
  • supporting the University's marketing activities and building relationships with the socio-economic environment

Requirements:

  • holding the post-doctoral degree in the discipline of psychology or health sciences
  • specialization in the field of health psychology / clinical psychology
  • experience in teaching at the academic level, such as lectures, workshops, or seminars, as well as in preparing teaching materials
  • high teaching and methodological skills
  • documented completion of courses or other forms of education improving teaching qualifications, experience in preparing teaching materials and creating new study programs, as well as awards for teaching activities and high ratings for teaching work in previous places of employment
  • experience in active participation in international academic conferences
  • having academic achievements in the field of health psychology / clinical psychology, confirmed by publications in peer-reviewed journals with an impact factor
  • experience in implementing grants (manager, principal investigator) financed from external sources or experience in obtaining funding for scientific research
  • English proficiency for the purpose of conducting classes (and/or consultations) in this language 
  • fluency in Polish language
  • strong computer literacy and readiness to learn new software tools
  • readiness to teach classes on weekends
  • commitment to declare SWPS University as the primary place of employment

Required documents:

  • CV with a list of academic, teaching, and administrative achievements (with reference to the criteria specified above), as well as a description of other professional experience and research interests
  • a scanned copy of a diploma confirming a post-doctoral degree
  • a certificate confirming knowledge of a foreign language at the required proficiency level

Formal criteria:

  • scientific achievements: 50% of the final grade
  • teaching achievements: 30% of the final grade
  • organizational or practical achievements: 20% of the final grade 

Important information:

The position of Associate Professor will be offered to a person holding the post-doctoral degree (doktor habilitowany) or equivalent. We will offer assistance to those wishing to pursue the post-doctoral degree in Poland. We are also willing to discuss the details of the formal procedure with interested candidates during the recruitment process.

Regulations on recruitment of academic staff for teaching and teaching-research positions 

The Competition Committee reserves the right to contact only selected candidates.

The candidates who receive the highest scores from the Committee will be invited for an interview.

After conducting the competition, the Committee may, based on its results, draw up a reserve list of candidates in case it is possible to employ more people or a candidate withdraws. The reserve list of candidates shall be valid for no longer than 12 months from the date of this competition.
