Dr. Liang earned his B.S. in Chemical Biology from Tsinghua University in 2011. In 2016, he received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago, where he was mentored by Prof. Gregory A. Voth, a renowned theorist in multiscale statistical mechanics and computational biophysics. His doctoral research was dedicated to developing and applying multiscale reactive molecular dynamics for studying proton transport in proteins. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher under Prof. William H. Miller at the University of California, Berkeley, and Prof. Todd J. Martinez at Stanford University. His postdoctoral research focused on developing non-adiabatic dynamics methods for studying light-activated photoactive proteins and materials. Since September 2020, Dr. Liang has been a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University. His independent research focuses on multiscale simulations of biomolecular systems in areas such as photopharmacology, bioimaging, and biocatalysis. His lab has been honored with the prestigious MIRA (R35) award from the NIH and a highly competitive research grant from the Welch Foundation.
