Project Assistant (Post-Doc)

At the Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology, in the Research Unit of Artifact-based Computing & User Research, we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team for a 3-year project. The project focuses on advancing research in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-AI Interaction, and Robotics. Expected start (negotiable): January 2025. Duration: 3 years

Tasks:

  • You conduct high-impact research in HCI, Human-AI Interaction, and/or Robotics, with a strong emphasis on publishing in top international venues.
  • You develop innovative systems and solutions, with a proven track record demonstrated through publications.
  • You develop develop prototypes and evaluate results and contribute to interdisciplinary scientific projects
  • You participate in delivering results to the project, you contribute to teaching and supervision of students
  • You participate in organizational and administrative tasks of the research division and the faculty
  • You collaborate with international research teams and contribute to the global research community.

Your profile:

  • You have a PhD in Computer Science, HCI, Robotics, Human-AI Interaction, or a related field.
  • You have a strong publication record in HCI, Human-AI Interaction, and/or Robotics at international venues.
  • You have proven ability to design, develop, and implement complex systems, demonstrated through your research.
  • You communicate clearly and have Experience in teaching and mentoring students.
  • You have an excellent command of the English language. You have knowledge of German (level B2) or willingness to learn the German language.
  • Being an avid cyclist and showing interest in technical instrumentations of bicycles is a plus!
  • You have international research experience and a collaborative mindset.

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4.752,30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
