to manage the operations of the University and the University of Helsinki Group.
As rector, you will be responsible for the economical, efficient and effective implementation and further development of the University’s mission, as specified in the Universities Act. You will have solid expertise in scholarship and research. You will possess a strategic vision for the further development of the University of Helsinki and be thoroughly familiar with the academic world. You will have the competence to manage the finances and overall operations of the diverse University Group. You will be an experienced and respected leader; your interaction skills will help to build trust and generate inspiration within the University community. You will be progressive and solution-focused, and you wish to have a strong impact on the promotion of national and international research and scholarship.
You hold a doctoral degree, have a vision for research and education policy, possess extensive leadership skills, maintain versatile community relations and are engaged in international activities. The position requires proficiency in Finnish, Swedish and English.
The Board of the University of Helsinki selects the rector for a fixed term of up to five years.
