Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is the world’s first graduate AI research university and is already ranked in the world’s top 20 by CSRankings for AI. Currently MBZUAI is home to 230 Master’s students and 135 PhD students and over 80 world leading faculty members led by its President, Eric Xing. The university offers MSc and PhD degrees in five programs: machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and computer science. Computational Biology

Computer Vision

3D vision and SLAM, visual recognition, visual tracking, medical imaging, vision and language, large multimodal models, generative AI, and responsible AI. Human-Computer Interaction

User Interface Design, Interaction Design (including the design of chatbots, voice assistants, and virtual agents), User Experience Design, and Service Design, Data Design, Visualization, and Investigation, VR/AR Interactions, Ubiquitous, Wearable, Tangible, and Affective Computing, Human-Agent and Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), Human Augmentation (including sensory, cognitive and physical enhancement, and HCI aspects of neurotechnology and biomedical engineering). Machine Learning

Natural Language Processing and Speech

Large language models, their underlying mechanisms and responsible applications, dialog systems, chatbots, Arabic NLP, machine translation, efficient and low resource NLP, speech recognition, multimodality (language speech/images/video), and understanding the subtleties of language. Robotics

Deep learning, control theory, robot manipulation, quadruped locomotion, HRI, robot-assisted surgery and healthcare, precision agriculture and indoor farming, recycling, and environment and infrastructure monitoring. Click here for further details.

Statistics and Data Science

Statistical learning theory, theoretical foundations for deep learning techniques such as transfer learning and active learning, high-dimensional statistics, scalable inference, causal inference, uncertainty quantification, differential privacy, and statistical techniques that address challenges such as data bias and fairness, and enhance the robustness, interpretability, and explainability of AI applications.
