YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

This master’s thesis focuses on the experimental realization and validation of a photonics-based rain sensor. Cutting-edge technologies are applied to analyze the effects of the interaction of light with raindrops. Based on a novel disdrometer concept a measurement system shall be realized and used for laboratory experiments and measurements in the field together with an external industry partner. 

Your responsibilities will involve the following activities:

  • Support setting up optical laboratory experiments for precipitation measurements.
  • Implement the automatization of the experiments. 
  • Perform measurement campaigns. 
  • Evaluate the acquired data.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master student (at an EU-University) in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or similar fields 
  • Self-organized and target-oriented working style
  • Basic experience with electronic laboratory equipment (e.g., oscilloscope)
  • Basic experience in optical measurements
  • Experience in data processing and evaluation
  • Good knowledge in Python 
  • Experience with electronics and micro-controller programming
  • Good oral and written English skills
