YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead R&D efforts on fabrication of magnetic-based RF microsystems, like circulators, antennas, or inductors, aiming for novel device innovations and industrial process developments with 200-300 mm pilot line capabilities.
  • Technology development for RF-based magnetic devices, from concept to prototype
  • Collaborate with process engineers to develop magnetic RF device fabrication processes in an TRL 1-6 R&D cleanroom environment.
  • Actively form the R&D roadmap of the research unit on magnetic RF microsystems and coordinate inter-unit collaborations with the RF-design teams.
  • Participate in building up relevant infrastructure in the cleanroom and the magnetic lab.
  • Initialize and manage large projects and cooperations with the industry as well as national and international funding program participations (HE, FFG, Chips JU, ...)
  • Networking and acquisition of international partners from industry and academia, dissemination of results at respected conferences and in high-level journals, help to make SAL and MMT internationally renowned in the field.
  • Participate in the daily project work which can include microfabrication, simulation, measurements, meetings with project partners, documentation, scientific article writing, or some administrative work. 

YOUR PROFILE

  • A distinguished record of at least 5 years of research, innovation, and leadership with magnetic-based RF microsystems
  • Strong practical expertise in developing magnetic material microfabrication processes, ideally for industrial applications on 200-300 mm wafers, design, fabrication and characterization of magnetic materials and RF-based technologies.
  • Must have project management experience, ideally also experience with supervision of a small group of experienced researchers and engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire funding, ideally beyond academic research programs, and to collaborate with the industry.
  • Strong scientific track record evidenced by peer-reviewed journal publications and invited talks at international conferences.
  • Knowledge of the worldwide market and European industrial ecosystem in the areas of magnetic-based RF microsystems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, German is a plus.
  • Genuine interest in applied research, industrial applications, and scientific progress

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group F (F1 salary = EUR 4.594,- paid 14 times a year, based on 38,5 hours per week). For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum gross salary of EUR 70.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
