Full Professor (W3)
of Plant-Soil Interactions

at the Institute of Crop Science to be filled by April 1, 2028.

The position holder is expected to address practice-oriented agricultural topics in plant nutrition, with a particular focus on plant and soil health. Innovative fertilization strategies and interactions at the root–soil interface may constitute key areas of research. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of agricultural systems and an orientation toward the principles of sustainability.

They should be capable of conducting both greenhouse experiments and field trials, and of actively contributing to interdisciplinary research consortia. We would like for the successful candidate to participate in the “TERRA: Terrestrial geo-biosphere interactions in a changing world” Cluster of Excellence.

In teaching, the position will cover practice-oriented plant nutrition and crop production related to fertilization. The future position holder must be able to offer courses in both German and English. For international applications, the successful candidate is expected to acquire German language skills within a reasonable period of time.

We are seeking an individual with a demonstrated history of internationally recognized research and a record of high-ranking, relevant publications in the field, as well as the capacity to acquire third-party funding.

The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record which may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship. The University of Hohenheim is certified with the seal of approval for fair and transparent appointment procedures by the ‘German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV)’. Applicants are requested to take into account the appointment criteria set out in the university's appointment guidelines, as these are also taken into account in the selection of candidates in the appointment procedure (https://www.uni-hohenheim.de/en/appointment-principles).

The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
