A propos de l'employeur

The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is a public university school for higher education and research.

Nestled in the picturesque region of Tuscany, the IMT School stands out as a premier post-graduate institution in Europe.

Interdisciplinary research, cutting-edge technologies, and internationalization form the cornerstone of the IMT School's identity.

In addition to doctoral training, the IMT School also offers executive courses and master's degrees conducted in collaboration with prestigious universities and research institutes.

Facilitating a conducive environment for learning and growth, the IMT School provides an array of facilities and benefits, including a well-stocked library, state-of-the-art laboratories, on-campus accommodation and canteen services. Additionally, PhD students can enjoy fitness and relaxation amenities, leisure rooms for socialization, and opportunities to immerse themselves in the Italian language and culture through dedicated courses.

The School's research is organizationally divided into Multidisciplinary Scientific Areas, which are devoted to the study and exploration of broad themes. The Multidisciplinary Scientific Areas are also the centres of reference for the recruitment of researchers and faculty, and for the integration of research and teaching. Each includes within it one or more Research Units.

The Multidisciplinary Scientific Areas identified in the School's four areas of scientific and teaching expertise, with their respective Research Units, are:

  • economics, management and statistics area, with the AXES Research Unit

  • neuroscience, psychology and philosophy area, with the MOMILAB and PHIBOR Research Units

  • systems science area, with the Research Units DYSCO, MUSAM, NETWORKS and SYSMA

  • cultural systems area, with the LYNX Research Unit

Most RUs are led by a prominent senior researcher, include a small group of junior faculty members, and involve doctoral students actively contributing to the research as part of their studies. Other RUs instead are structured in a multipolar fashion, with highly specialized research centered on thematic nuclei and the contribution of diverse methodologies.

The research carried out within the RUs is closely connected to the School’s PhD programs. In fact, every PhD student is affiliated with a Research Unit and contributes to the research and projects carried out therein. Several RUs are affiliated with highly specialized laboratories, and the entire School relies on very high-level computer infrastructures.

Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca is a member of the EFC - Educating Future Citizens network, which includes the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS (Pavia), Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati - SISSA (Trieste), Scuola di Studi Superiori "C. Urbani" (Università di Camerino), Scuola di Studi Superiori "G. Leopardi" (Università di Macerata), Scuola di Studi Superiore "F. Rossi" (Università di Torino), Scuola Superiore dell’Università degli Studi di Udine, and Collegio Internazionale Ca' Foscari (Università di Venezia). IMT PhD students and scholars have the opportunity to participate in joint activities and are encouraged to engage with partner institutions to foster academic and research collaborations.

Current global challenges demand complex, flexible, adapting responses not confined to a single expertise or set of tools. The IMT School’s multidisciplinary PhD Programs aim at providing research skills and tools to address complex issues of the 21st century.

IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is looking for bright students from all over the world to recruit through highly competitive and transparent procedures.

Cybersecurity

Complex systems and critical infrastructures are essential to society, yet increasingly difficult to protect from cyber-attacks. The growth of cloud computing, remote work, and mobility has heightened vulnerabilities, while threats such as zero-day exploits and new malware demand advanced solutions and skilled professionals.
Despite rising awareness, the cybersecurity workforce has not grown fast enough, leaving a critical skills gap with serious consequences for global security. The National Ph.D. Program in Cybersecurity (Ph.D.-CySec) aims to train experts who combine technical excellence with legal and organizational competencies to meet this urgent challenge.
