Research, application and education

The Research Center Finance & Information Management is an internationally recognized research center institution with several locations in Bavaria. Together with the Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering of the Fraunhofer FIT, we combine research, practice, and teaching in a unique way at the interface of finance management, information management, and business & information systems engineering. Currently our team consists of about 50 research assistants and more than 100 student assistants.

Since we focus on several areas in our research activities, we have established extensive competencies in different areas in the field of business & information systems engineering. Thus, we are able to transfer our latest research findings into real-world solutions in practical research projects with numerous companies from various industries and to establish long-term “win-win-cooperations”. In addition, we incorporate the gained knowledge in our courses in order to familiarize our students with practically relevant topics next to well-founded theoretical subjects. In future, we strive to extend the topics we focus on to further research areas which support our existing research in a synergetic manner.

Due to the unique Bavarian-wide network with professors of several universities, it is possible for us to combine various skills in the field of business & information systems engineering and other associated disciplines. Thus, the comprehensive focus of our research activities is the economic evaluation of central questions within the following research areas:​

Cooperation:

We use the knowledge and expertise we have gained through applied research projects with our renowned practice partners. Furthermore, we develop innovative and comprehensive solutions for individual problems in interdisciplinary teams.

Additionally, we are integrating companies in our teaching activities through guest lectures or the co-supervision of seminar work. Also our master´s degree “Finance and Information Management” sponsored by the Bavarian Elite Network is supported by many well-known partners.

Education:

The scientific knowledge gained in research and practice is integrated into several courses at various universities. This allows us to provide our students with a theoretical as well as a practical perspective to solve complex problems with scientific methods.
